James Joyce's "Araby" setting is in Dublin. The story is set in various places in the city. At the story's beginning, "Araby" is set in the street where the narrator lives. The narrator is strategically positioned to see Mangan's sister when leaving the house (Joyce, 2014). The story's next phase is set in within the city where the bazaar is located. Life in the bazaar is as dull as where the narrator lives.
Question 2
The first example of stream consciousness is when the narrator nurtures his love for Mangan's sister but is shy to open up his feelings to the girl he adored. The narrator, however, gains courage, and one talks to the girl. In this example, the reader can track the narrator's mind because we expect him to talk to the girl at some point. The second example is when the narrator realizes that the deep love he developed for the girl for a long time was shallow and that he has been stupid all along. Here, the author sets the mood as dull and sets terms the setting as blind, insinuating that the narrator's love for Mangan's girl may not bear any fruits (Introduction stream of consciousness: Meaning - DAV university).
