Who are the “Greasers?”
Read Field Notes Excerpt #0. These are three separate sections of the notes. Look where the “Greasers” and “Grease Balls” come up? What is the attitude expressed towards them? What do you think accounts for it?
Read SCS Chapter 1
On page 6-7 Doc discusses the “Bums.” Compare how Whyte portrayed this here with what Doc tells him in the field notes (Excerpt #1 & #3). What differences do you note? The "Bums" are the "Hobos" in the notes. Read further on what is said about "tough guys" and then about the corner cliques called "Rangers" and "Hull Knights."
On page 11, there is discussion of relationship between Mr. Greener (Mr. Bacon) and Lou Danaro (John Severino. Compare what Whyte says here with what Doc tells him in the field notes (Excerpts #2).
On page 15-16, there is description of conflict between Chic (Chris) and Joe (Freddy). Compare this to the description in the notes (Excerpt #4). What does Whyte keep and what does he change?

Who are the “Greasers?”
From the readings, the greasers are a group of individuals who come from a foreign country, likely Latin America. They seem to come from poor neighborhoods in the area and are hence economically challenged. They are foreigners.
Look where the “Greasers” and “Grease Balls” come up? What is the attitude expressed towards them? What do you think accounts for it?
The attitude expressed towards them is quite negative. It seems like the natives do not want anything to do with them. What accounts for this is that they are deemed to be useless when it comes to decision making on issues such as voting since they have no vote. So they end up utilizing resources but have no say in anything.
